Climate Ethics and the Everyday Lifeworld

Abstract Our everyday lifeworlds, the environments in which we spend our daily lives, exercise agency and control to are bound through practical knowledge routines, receive little attention contemporary climate ethics. This is unfortunate, as ethics can benefit from an in-depth analysis of lifeworld-perspective—especially when it comes evaluating individual’s role face change. paper focuses on two key problems, problem individual responsibility motivation support protection policies. Currently discussed strategies solve both problems serious objections. A lifeworld-oriented perspective, so I argue, helps us better understand well reasons why they practically resistant solutions proposed philosophical literature. My main claim that change’s consequences cannot be experienced current lifeworlds most people who live Western hemisphere. In consequence, appeals conscience lack adequate grounding contexts. These contexts, however, have a decisive impact moral behavior. Based this critique, give some suggestions how could handled perspective.
